HarbourView Equity Partners $500M Asset-Based Financing Deal led by KKR
"Content is Queen"TM - HarbourView Founder and CEO Sherrese Clarke Soares
One of several quotable (and notable) takeaways from Sherrese Clarke Soares recent interview on Bloomberg was “it is measurable and therefore investable.”
Sherrese Clarke Soares, HarbourView Founder and CEO interview on Bloomberg
HarbourView is a $1.5B AUM multi-strategy, global investment firm focused on investments opportunities in the entertainment and media space. Founded in 2021 the firm announced on March 13, 2024 they had closed a $500M asset-based debt facility led by KKR with participation by Kuvare Asset Management. According to Harbourview the transaction was a private ABS (asset-backed securitization).
Several important takeaways from the Billboard article are captured in the comments from participants in this transaction and worth noting as the asset-backed finance space continues to grow:
HarbourView founder and CEO Sherrese Clark Soares said in a statement - “This capital will allow us to further our mission of investing in assets and companies driven by premier intellectual property while striving to ensure that creators are appropriately valued for their contributions to the world.”
KKR Co-Heads of U.S. ABF Avi Korn and Chris Mellia said in a statement - “Music IP is one of many areas where we see opportunity and we are pleased to finance a scaled and high-quality portfolio in this space.”
The Structured Finance Association (SFA) Research Corner article on Music Royalty ABS is worth checking out. More to come as additional details on the transaction and the firms involved in this financing become available. I am hoping to interview Sherrese Clarke Soares of HarbourView as well as a team member from KKR’s U.S. ABF team on my ATLalts podcast in the months ahead.
